Each week, we will get our heart rate up and get moving while enjoying the outdoors in our beautiful parks. Walks are guided and self-paced. Greene County Parks & Trails, Fairborn Parks and Recreation and the City of Beavercreek Parks Department have teamed up to provide walks all over Greene County.Walks are on Thursdays, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.All walks are rated for difficulty with a 1 being the easiest and a 3 being the most difficult. Ratings consider terrain, elevation changes, etc.

Create family memories during this winter adventure! Maple sugaring excitement begins by hearing the "drip, drip, drip" as the first droplets of sap go into your bucket. Bring your whole family to learn all about the history of maple sugaring. Along the way you will find out how to identify sugar maple trees in winter, take turns drilling a hole and tapping a spile, then your family will have a special bucket that can be checked throughout the season. Once a bucket is purchased, you will be contacted to schedule your tour. Be sure to fill out the questions at the end of the registration process so we can best assist you with your tour time.  There is a limit of one bucket per family.  Tours will take place January 25th-31st between the hours of 9:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m.Each bucket will come with a 16 oz jar of locally made maple syrup and four pieces of maple candy.Please only register ONE member of your group for the program, each group will receive one bucket.  A team member will reach out to you with your scheduled time.You will need to report to the Narrows Reserve Sperling Lane entrance not the Critter Cove entrance.  A map is included below under additional files.Trail information:The short trail is about ¼ mile. Are you looking to start a new hobby or explore a potential new career?  If so, this series of 6 classes will help you determine if beekeeping is a sweet fit for you.  Meet fellow enthusiasts, ask questions and learn what it takes to become a successful beekeeper.Three instructors with the Greene County Beekeepers Association will cover everything you need to know in order to start your own hive. You will leave with a better understanding of honey bee biology, behavior and hive dynamics. You will learn about equipment, hive management and maintenance as well as the seasonal life cycle of the hive and how to work with bees for their long-term hive health.This program is a partnership with the Greene County Beekeepers Association.***If there is bad weather, the impacted session or sessions will be taught via Zoom***

This series will take you on an urban farming adventure. Learn the basics of using the space you have to grow produce and more. This series is great for those who live in urban areas and rural alike and want to learn how to start their own homestead. You don’t need 50 acres to grow your own resources!February Class Urban Homesteading 101 Prices in the grocery are not going down, come learn about urban homesteading, why it is so important to communities, and how to get started planning your urban homestead. March Class Winter Seed Starting Learn How to use recycled milk jugs to create tiny greenhouses for your plants! April Class Abundance in Small Spaces Containers and cages OH MY! Get the basics of starting a container garden. Meet some quail and learn how these small birds can fit into your urban homestead. May Class Preserving and Canning We will look at ways to keep what we grow preserved. Guests that attend all sessions will receive a Homesteading gift from our department.

What is sap? What does it do for trees? How did the Native Americans learn to turn it into sugar? What is a sugar camp? These questions and more will be answered as you hike along the trail learning all about the history of turning sap into delicious syrup. The tour will end at our sugar shack where participants can see how syrup is made and get a free sample! This is a free program however parking is limited.  You must call to reserve a spot.To register for this program, please all our office at 937-562-6440, M-F, 8 am - 4 pm.Program dates are 02/15 & 02/2210 am & 1 pmSpace is limited.
